Biography for First Lady Susan Murphy
Susan
Murphy, a native of
Mt. Airy, NC, is the wife of Bishop Terrell L. Murphy, and First
Lady of New Birth-Charlotte in
Huntersville, NC. Mrs. Murphy was
joined to Bishop in 1988 in marriage
and has been with him as he has
matriculated through ministry.
Upon its inception in March 2003,
Mrs. Murphy became a charter member
of New Birth-Charlotte.

In 1987,
Mrs. Murphy graduated from Appalachian
State University receiving a Business
Administration degree with a double
major in the fields of Marketing
and Management. Nine years in the
corporate workplace she fulfilled
roles in the areas of sales and
customer service, primarily with
AT & T before
exiting the industry to become
a full-time domestic engineer
in 1996.
Currently, Mrs. Murphy serves
as the Senior Director of Heart
to Heart, the Women's Ministry
of New Birth-Charlotte, as well
as a member of the New Birth-Charlotte
CORE Leadership Team. The Heart
to Heart Women's Ministry works
to teach, as well as encourage
and guide women to the heart
of God. Mrs. Murphy also has
a great desire to see women mature
through discipleship.
The level of her Kingdom servitude expands beyond the New Birth family into the community. She is an advocate to women’s health and has partnered with agencies such as: Dove’s Nest, Charlotte’s Rescue Mission Women’s Recovery Program, and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation, a Breast Cancer Awareness/Prevention Program. Mrs. Murphy is also a board member of the United Way of Central Carolinas for Mooresville-Lake Norman Women’s Leadership Initiative Council.
As First Lady, Mrs. Murphy sits as an Elder to edify the New Birth-Charlotte family. As a wife and mother, Mrs. Murphy is committed to the covenantal relationship of family. She provides encouragement as a help mate, and nurturing as a mother to their two sons Samuel and Johnathan.
As a leader and supporter, Mrs. Murphy diligently seeks the heart of God for her life and those God has joined to her.
